About the event

Join COAR as we celebrate the launch of our very first zine - Colouring the Map.

Inspired by Queering the Map, this zine is an autonomous platform that seeks to normalise the multifaceted nature of the BIPOC experience on the stolen lands of the Australian National University. When reflecting on our journeys at this university, we realised that our experiences are a coalition of positive and negative events. Colouring the Map is therefore divided into two sections; moments of joy and moments of alienation.

We know these moments are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the depth that our story holds. Yet, we hope this zine will be a place for BIPOC people to find solace in shared experiences.

As a zine fully created by BIPOC people, we would like to share it amongst our community first, and so this event is autonomous to individuals that identify as Bla(c)k, Indigenous, and/or people of colour.

Come along in cultural dress, grab your FREE copy of the zine, and join us for an afternoon of BIPOC tunes, raffle games, and zine readings.

Entry ticketing is $2 but is free for First Nations peoples as COAR creates anti-racist spaces on stolen land. Ticketing will also be waived for low SES people so that we can ensure our space remains accessible.

For those who are financially well positioned, COAR invites you to donate whatever more you can through the tickets to support our 100% volunteer run efforts in creating our beautiful community.

The Food Co-Op is fully wheelchair accessible with ramps leading to both entrances. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out to us via our social media platforms or email us at coar.cbr@gmail.com.

COAR acknowledges that we are gathering on the stolen lands of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

Sovereignty was never ceded.

COAR commits to standing with First Nations peoples.
